{"id":288,"date":"2020-02-11T14:47:12","date_gmt":"2020-02-11T14:47:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.performance2020.deib.polimi.it\/?page_id=288"},"modified":"2020-08-03T08:43:43","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T08:43:43","slug":"call-for-papers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.performance2020.deib.polimi.it\/call-for-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for papers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"has-text-align-center\">Call for papers<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The IFIP Performance conference aims to bring together researchers interested in understanding and improving the performance of computing and communication systems by means of state-of-the-art quantitative models and solution techniques.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research papers on the design of algorithms, mathematical analysis and modeling, simulation and measurement techniques for computer systems or communication networks are solicited.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Topics of interest include the following<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Performance-oriented methodologies including:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Stochastic modelling, statistical analysis and simulation<\/li><li>Capacity planning, resource allocation, routing, scheduling and Quality of Service<\/li><li>Energy-efficient computing and networking<\/li><li>Computer architectures and operating systems<\/li><li>Network architectures, protocols and congestion control<\/li><li>Storage systems and datacenters<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Evaluation techniques, and algorithms for:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning<\/li><li>Blockchains and crypto-currency<\/li><li>Cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things, fog computing<\/li><li>Data centers, content delivery, cloud computing and virtualization<\/li><li>Internet and web services<\/li><li>Network economics and markets<\/li><li>Security systems<\/li><li>Social networks, multimedia systems and smart grid<\/li><li>Wireless, ad-hoc and cellular networks<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important dates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Abstract submission: <del>May 10th, 2020<\/del>, <span style=\"color: red; font-size: inherit;\">Extended to May 17th, 2020<\/span><\/li><li>Full paper submission: <del>May 17th, 2020<\/del>, <span style=\"color: red; font-size: inherit;\">Extended to May 24th, 2020 (Anywhere on Earth)<\/span><\/li><li>Notification to authors: July 19th, 2020<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Paper Submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Performance 2020 accepts submissions in two categories:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Regular papers: 12 pages<\/li><li>Short papers: 6 pages&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular&nbsp;&nbsp;papers should not exceed 12 pages double-column and single-spaced including figures, tables and references in standard ACM format. Short&nbsp;&nbsp;papers are limited to 6 pages.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition (both for regular and short paper submissions), a 2-page appendix is permitted, which is not included in the page-count. Papers must be submitted electronically in printable pdf form. Papers must follow the ACM format.&nbsp;<u><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/binaries\/content\/assets\/publications\/consolidated-tex-template\/acmart-master.zip\" target=\"_blank\">Templates<\/a><\/u> for the standard ACM format can be found at&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/proceedings-template\" target=\"_blank\"><u>this link<\/u><\/a>. Authors should use the &#8220;sigconf&#8221; proceedings template. No changes to margins, spacing or font sizes are allowed from those specified by the style files. Papers violating the formatting guidelines will be returned without review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors of rejected Sigmetrics 2020 papers are invited to submit a revised version of their paper, which would then be reviewed again as new by at least one of its Sigmetrics reviewers to aid consistency. The authors are allowed to include a response to the Sigmetrics reviews in a clearly-marked appendix that will not count against the page limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Papers can be submitted through <a href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=performance2020\">easychair<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All submissions will be reviewed using a double-blind review process. The identity of authors and referees will not be revealed to each other. To ensure double-blind reviewing, authors names and affiliations should not appear in the paper and bibliographic references should be made in such a way as to preserve author anonymity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you declare your conflict of interest with the TPC members,&nbsp;consider as a conflict:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Colleagues of your same institutions (and this is automatically tracked by the submission system)<\/li><li>Advisor-advisee<\/li><li>Your co-authors in last three years<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Warning: It is ACM policy not to allow double submissions, where the same paper is submitted to more than one conference\/journal concurrently. Any double submissions detected will be rejected immediately from all conferences\/journals involved.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accepted short papers (limited to 6 pages ) and abstracts of accepted regular papers will be published in a special issue of the ACM Performance Evaluation Review (PER).&nbsp;The style file can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sigmetrics.org\/sig-alternate-per.cls\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special Issues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular papers will be published in a special issue of the Elsevier journal Performance Evaluation (PEVA).&nbsp;Appropriate Latex templates and instructions can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elsevier.com\/authors\/author-schemas\/latex-instructions\">here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, authors may opt-out in favor of submission to other special issues in journals related to Performance Evaluation and Operations Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible papers are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>extensions of short-papers and<\/li><li>long papers that opt-out of publication in Performance Evaluation (PEVA).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors need to make sure that their work falls within the scope of the respective journal. All papers will be reviewed according to the standards of the journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special Issues will appear in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tompecs.acm.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACM Transactions on Modeling and Performance<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The editors will invite the authors of a few papers (short or long) to submit a full-length manuscript.<br>Prepare your manuscript using the same <a href=\"https:\/\/tompecs.acm.org\/authors.cfm\">manuscript preparation guidelines<\/a> as the ones for regular TOMPECS submissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/journal\/11134\" target=\"_blank\">Queueing Systems: Theory and Application<\/a> (QUESTA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>All conference papers (short and long papers that opt-out of PEVA) may submit to the SI.<br>The conference version of the paper published in PER should be no more than 6 pages.
